Psicopatía: características personales percibidas por una muestra de la comunidad brasileña.

Resumen

La percepción de la población general sobre la psicopatía es un tema que aún carece de información científica en Brasil, y es fundamental informar al público para resolver la estigmatización social que la desinformación puede generar. El objetivo del studio fue identificar la percepción de una muestra de la comunidad brasileña sobre la psicopatía, para evaluar las características atribuidas a los psicópatas y de qué fuentes proviene este conocimiento. Se trata de un estudio correlacional con un marco temporal ex post facto transversal. La muestra estuvo compuesta por 1.276 participantes, la mayoría mujeres (75,9%), estudiantes universitarios (29,6%), empleados (30,7%) y profesionales autónomos (22,8%). La recolección de datos se realizó mediante un instrumento de investigación, un cuestionario en línea que consta de 21 preguntas. La mayoría de los participantes obtuvieron información sobre la psicopatía de fuentes no científicas, como películas y series (73,5%) e internet/Google (62,1%), aunque también afirmaron que utilizaban fuentes científicas, como artículos (45,8%), libros (49,4%) y cursos (36,6%). En general, la investigación destacó los estigmas generados por los medios de comunicación, mientras que algunas características de la psicopatía coincidieron con la literatura. El estudio considera la necesidad de promover conciencia sobre el tema, minimizar el estigma cultural y posibilitar el acceso a información científica sobre psicopatía.
