Family criminal history and risk factors in convicts and university students.

Resumo

As percepções da população em geral sobre a psicopatia é um tema ainda desprovido de informações científicas no Brasil, sendo fundamental informar o público com vistas a dirimir a estigmatização social que a desinformação pode gerar. O objetivo do estudo foi identificar a percepção de uma amostra comunitária brasileira acerca da psicopatia, a fim de avaliar as características atribuídas aos psicopatas e de quais fontes são advindos esse conhecimento. Trata-se de um estudo correlacional com recorte temporal transversal do tipo ex post facto. A amostra foi composta por 1.276 participantes, sendo, em sua maioria, do gênero feminino (75,9%), universitários (29,6%), empregado(as) (30,7%) e profissionais autônomos(as) (22,8%). A coleta de dados foi realizada por meio de instrumento do tipo survey, sendo um questionário online composto por 21 questões. A maioria dos participantes obteve informações sobre psicopatia em fontes não científicas, como filmes e séries (73,5%) e internet/Google (62,1%), enquanto também afirmaram utilizar fontes científicas: artigos (45,8%), livros (49,4%) e cursos (36,6%). De modo geral, a pesquisa apontou estigmas gerados pelo midiático, enquanto algumas características de psicopatia foram condizentes à literatura. O estudo destaca a necessidade de promover a conscientização sobre a temática para minimizar o estigma cultural e possibilitar o acesso as informações científicas sobre psicopatia.
