Abstract

In this article we will reflect about some aspects that show the figuration of the otherness at the current Brazilian cinema, from the look that we launched to the movie O céu sobre os ombros (Sérgio Borges, 2010). The movie aproach universes in common with the Brazilian cinema tradition, mainly, by telling the ordinary story about tree inhabitants of the outskirts in a big city. However, the intention is not to make a comparative reflection between two moments of the national cinema, but, before that, identify the strategies that the present filmmakers have been adding to deal with the complex question about otherness and the figuration of the other. For this purpose, we will analise the filmic miseen-scène, trying to understand how the stylistic procedures were applied to articulate the temporality, space and characters, at the common life staging.
