Abstract

We discuss, from a brief flânerie in images associated with Netflix through the user’s browsing experience on the platform and through publications on social networks, the idea of an “inversion” (or turn upside down) of the senses that initially associate nostalgia with melancholic pain for the passage of time to become a communicative practice whose purpose is to generate well-being and interaction with the public. As a trend in audiovisual culture aimed at the consumption of nostalgic experiences, Netflix appears in our results, with emphasis on the series Stranger things (2016), as the “upside down” nostalgia platform, since it strains the most common senses of the term.
