Abstract

This article portrays the beginning of a research on the invasion of privacy
committed against internet users by other users, internet companies and even by governments; and about the increasing cases of libel and slander through social networks and applications. The purpose of the research is to map the existing legislation and disputes over laws and rules relating to this topic. This paper also notes some consequences of this fact in the press. For this, I followed cases of invasion of privacy, libel and defamation over 2014 in the newspaper O Globo and less regularly in other media outlets, sought court rulings on the subject, begun to analyze laws and followed clashes on bills. The conclusion, still preliminary, is that new technology means new regulations so that the citizen's rights be protected.
