Caleidoscópio: uma tese com crianças e adolescentes sobre avaliação em educação social

Abstract

The objective of the paper is to present the possibility of evaluation in social education, with the participation of the subjects of Social Education – children and adolescents, in this case. It is assumed that subjects may be active constructors of their formation processes and reality. The methodology originates from the doctoral thesis entitled Social Education and Evaluation: indicators for various educational contexts. The analyses are based on the theories exposed by Freire (1996), Boaventura Souza Santos (2010), and Violeta Núñez (1999), among others. The experiments with Social Education in five countries served as inspiration: Spain, Bolivia, Senegal, Uruguay, and Brazil. The kaleidoscope is a metaphor adopted in the thesis to make sense of what is meant by Social Education, an educational practice that occurs in different contexts and from diverse viewpoints, thus reflecting specific results. The systematization of the results produced two types: a) the indicators that characterized what should be realized/detected as the effect of Social Education in the individual, the collective, and the community; b) three instruments to be used by evaluators of Social Education, for the detection of the aspects perceived by the interviewees as good consequences for Social Education: a list of appropriate questions, a guiding file, and a graphic that summarizes the general idea of the evaluation.
